I have a manual 93 sc300 and was wondering if the 5-speed you get with the 1jz is the same as the sc300? Is it better? I plan to start a swap soon so any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to CL! Use the search button and you'll find the answers to alllll your questions. And yes, if you manage to find a Soarer 5-speed tranny (the R154) it is much stronger then the W58.

Be care full i got 1jz clip with a w58. You can tell from the bolt pattern around the shifter.

1JZ never came with anything but a R154 from the factory

but a cheap alternative over there is to swap over the w58 since its cheap. ive read about that many times. If you have an auto ecu with your manual clip, its probably a w58 attached. As much as possible try to check and make sure it is a w58 in whatever pictures you can.
