Lightbulb Reversed Batt Polarity..now Dead DoorKnob

A friend of mine got a little bit of misinfo on the replacement battery for his SC300. Turns out that the new battery was similiar, just that the + and - sides of the battery were reversed! Unbenounced to him, he fitted it and stried to start it more than once

I found the error the next day trying to help him troubleshoot what was going on. Noticed that the NEG cable had more than one wire, where the POS only had one. Of course, this meant that this was in backwards and this was the wrong battery.

After recieving the right battery, the car no longers starts. *ell the dashlights do not even come on.

Very bad of course.

So my question is if this is a blown ECU? Is there a master reset for the car (no blown fuses)? Or possibly a combination of blown computers?

before jumping to conclusions check ALL fuses. if all the fuses are good and its still not starting/powering, something expensive went bad. Good luck with that.

He probably blew one of those big 100 or 150 amp fuses. Alot of times the alternator fuse will take the brunt of the damage

Yeah..I thought about the large fuses. Not sure how to check them though. Any suggestions? Where do you get replacements? Autozone?

Default checking fuses

If you can't see the fuse element, just remove the fuse, use a simple continuity tester (or volt/ohm meter) a few bucks at Radio Shack

Thanks guys. Figured it out. Was a large fuse under the hood. Igintion I think 120AMP Fuse...big amps.

Noticed the bridge gap and temporatily bridged it with a screwdriver to see if that fuse was the issue. Started right up.

Getting it replaced. Saved $70 in towing and who knows how much $$$ for the LEX dealer.
