Default BFI diagram

Ok, so I finally decided to build this beeyotch box to save me gas & hopefully get a couple of horses. I traced this diagram from Paul Irwin's hand drawing on reepa.com, but I made it 100% size so I can just print it out and tape it together and slap it on the board.

Note: some of the measurements didn't quite come together from Paul's drawing so they could be off plus/minus 0.2 cm. Gimme a break. I haven't tried it yet so I'm not sure if it fits like a trojan magnum but I'll bring a file and extra padding just in case. Also, I put this together in Illustrator, which probably isn't the best diagraming software but oh well.

........ crap, I was gonna post the 100% images but they're 140k, and bigger than 800x600. Well, you guys probably didn't want them anyways, right?

You can upload the diagram to gallery and link it from there to bypass the attachment file size limit.

Cool Link to images

Thanks Lost,
That probably would've took me all of 45 sec to figure out if I'd put the effort to think about it. Suuuuuuuuuper!

By the way, I compressed the images to SUPER TINY Gif's, so the CORRECT one might actually be the smaller of the two file sizes (4.4k I think?) Double check to make sure you got the right one!!! (... so if the "finger" says "click here to see larger image" that should be your clue )

Default Useless poll, but great template

Just like Peter's and Paul's diagramming efforts before you, it's great that you took the time to put this together in Illustrator. Once you actually go through the process of cutting and fitting this, you'll discover that some dimensions are off by a bit more than 0.2 cm.

I took Paul's template (for the complex piece below the headlamp assembly) and enlarged it, but when I did, some measurements aren't proportional. For example, along the bottom edge, the first segment is 5 cm. If you print his template so that that is exactly 5 cm, too, then the next segment, labeled "12 cm", will only measure 11. 3 cm. And the far right "24.5 cm" section measures 23.5 cm.

Also, as I recall, I ended up tapering the bottom right portion more than is indicated.

It's not that big a deal- you can use the template as a start, but bring along a sharp knife/scissors and be prepared to do some cutting and trimming once you try to fit it in place.

Exclamation

Dx3,
It's for both Top and Bottom...

As for the measurements, I went off of his numbers, not the image itself, and still there were small gaps (that's why I said +/- 0.2 cm), but they weren't hugely off. After sizing his image up to what looked like 100%, I did my best to average out his image and numbers when they were a little off. Hope it's useful!
