Default how dyno?

how do you guys make dyno runs with autoatic tranny?
I know dyno at D with OD off and trac off but not sure at red line should change to neutral or just leave it in D and only realise gas pedal?

thanks

If I paid proper attention when they were doing it they e shifted into 4th gear and slowly brought the revs up so that the gear did not drop down, I dont beleive they started recording untill the car was safely in 4th with no chance of it down shifting, then they started recording.

on the SC400 with 4speed automatic trannies

TRAC off
Position D

slowly bring the car to speed to where the OD engages.
Floor the car so the transmission kicks down to 3rd gear (1 to 1 ratio)

its in drive, you are trying to measure the power thta the car makes up to redline, so it should still be in drive while readlining it.

thanks but :
say you dyno and it is 4000RPM, next 5000RPM, next 6500 (Redline) what do you do next: just leave it in D and right foot off, or put it to Neutral and gas pedall off too?

just leave it in drive and let it slow itself down... then stop it and put it in park

pressing the brake to "help the dyno brake" is quite honestly the worst thing you can possibly do. how would your little 12 inch rotors help out the massive dyno brakes? when i dyno my car, i drive it in D, and as soon as i let off the gas, i throw it in N and let the dyno slow the car down. if the owner of the dyno is letting you press the brake during the deceleration process, he should be banned from dynos for life.

why are you trying to help the dyno stop again?

obviously you don't know much considering you think i've only "had my car on a dyno."

i'm new HERE my friend....but i'm far from new when it comes to tuning fast cars.

but if you want to continue to dyno cars wrong, thats your option. i'm sure brake pad companies love the business you send them.

just for the record, you are doing more harm to your "$60,000 investment" than you are good. there is absolutely no logical reason that you would need to help slow down a dyno, OR any logical reason by doing so, you are protecting your car. none at all. i'm speechless that someone who claims to be all dyno-king over here thinks he should be foot braking on a dyno.
