Default Weird electrical problems (what does the battery light mean?)

Okay.... long story short.... dropped my car off to be painted in november... just got it back a week ago and now this:

- my amp/sub doesn't work
- my radio comes in and comes out (turns off and on)

and then just yesterday and today:

- battery light comes on
- car barely starts
- ABS light is on
- my passenger side HID turns on about 10 seconds after the driver... and sometimes during driving it actually turns off
- once in a while, while driving... the dash and interior lights brighten up and the battery and ABS lights turn off and everything is fine... and then everything will dim out and the battery and ABS lights come back on

any ideas?

and yes i am going to take it back to the shop and ask what the hell is going on.... but i have a feeling i'm going to do most of the work to fix / diagnose this problem

i thinnk it is either your batery that is bad or your alternator that has gone bad and is not charging the battery properly

well here's the thing.... prior to taking it to this shop.. everything worked flawlessly

i have an optima yellow top battery and have never seen the voltage drop or vary.... all my electricals never fluctuated or anything...

would a short somewhere in the electrical system cause this?

I do have some wires that are exposed (not exposed as in bare wire.... but not neatly tucked into a loom) in the front where my HID's are as well as my e-fans.... and my car was sitting outside for a couple of months with the crazy rain and all...... and well i just have no clue what the guys at the body shop did with my car...

so i really don't know how to even begin diagnosing this problem

maybe my alternator is going bad? how much are those?

okay... here are the only changes i ever made to the electrical system...

my JL amp

HID ballasts

flex-a-lite e-fans

and connecting wires from my high beams over to the bi-xenon motor in my HID projector

and the my front fog lights aren't connected...

good to see that you fixed the probelm. i was also going to agree with alternator becuase the batt light came on for me when my asscesory belt snaped and the alternator wasn't generating any power.
