How to maintain motor over 60k
Hey guys and gals! Well Im going to get a good condition 1997 sc300, but it has over 60k mileage. So is it good for me to get new optima battery, spark plugs, and spark plug wires? Also have it serviced at the dealership? Oh yea and using castrol syntec.

60k on these engines are nothing... all you need to do is get your major service done (timing belt, all those kinda things, water pump if need be) and that's it. I'm running a J-Spec Soarer with 167k kms on the clock (approx. 104k mls) and I haven't had one engine breakage yet (only radiator top tank had a crack). Give it some regular servicing and you should have a problem.

plugs, wires, rotor, cap... that's part of a typical 60k service (the wires sometimes aren't)
check and see what's already been done to the car.
PS: 60k is nothing. My GF has 130k on hers, and it runs like a champ.

i got 180k miles and it still runs like new. 70k is considered low for this motor believe me this is no beamer or benz(not saying they crappy cars but they're just not built to last as long as toyotas) or such that dies after 100k miles im sure 80% of the member here have high milage on thier sc's than you do.
