Save the money and do the BFI intake. Now THAT makes a difference. More seat of the pants feel AND better gas mileage. Cost....around $10.

Nah, never a stupid question. I just figured you might have heard of it. It's the best possible intake mod for a SC400. Here's a couple links for ya.

If you want to get the K&N panel filter, I suggest you just get the TRD panel filter. Does the same, probably better flow, and looks cooler

Wasn't there a thread telling to stay away from K&N, due to higher silicon deposit?

Have a similar question as the original poster but am looking to completely replace my stock airbox with a K&N 3in CONE filter...supposed gains (according to the seller from a dyno) is 10.5 HP at the rear wheels.
So the question is will the difference between stock and cone filter be noticeable or am I just wasting money here?

go over to www.planetsoarer.com they've tested all sorts of filters -- those cone K&N ones don't do as well as your stock paper element filter w/ a BFI.

Save your money bro.
