Default transmission rattle

i have asked this many times... . well.. i put my car on a lift and it doesnt rattle at all so i cant even locate the problem.... the rattling happnes when im in low gear at low speeds then it goes away,. after i pull past 1600 RPM... i dont know whats going on... but if it doesnt make the rattle on a lift then what does it mean?

I dont really know the answer to your problem, but Im just wondering. Why are you in gear under 1600 rpm? Thats revving KINDA low, and it that might just be the problem. I know 1600 isnt that low, but still. My 5-speed will shake if im gear under 1000 rpm.

its not even the shake,.,.,. it shakes and has a high pitch rattle....

I know what you're talking about -- it sounds like the heat shield for the cats -- I've been meaning to look into this, but maybe a search would yield some good results.

Being a 5 speed puts us in the minority, but on CL there are a lot of 5 (or 6 ) speeds that post. I'm sure we can nail this one.

I'll snoop around on SF too (I don't post much over there, it's dangerous -- you need a fire resisant suit!)

i have checked the shield on the cat.... its not loose and do have a good clearance..... if it was the shield wouldnt it rattle at all speeds???
