Default Removal of EGR valve

Last night I was taking off the thottle body on my sc3 and would have gone farther, but got stuck due to not knowing how to take apart the EGR assembly. Theres a large nut that is threaded backwards just behind the EGR valve. I loosened that and it slides down this metal piping (this setup is similar to a lot of plumbing connections), but then there's no way to pull that metal pipe towards the back of the car and be able to remove the air intake connector (connects between the TB and intake manifold).
If anyone knows what I'm talking about, please let me know what you did so I won't have this prob in the future. If you need pics or anything, let me know.

I did finish, but still need how to do this for the next time. I would have gone further, but I got hung up by this part.

If your still hung up with this problem.....You have to remove 2 bolts holding the EGR pipe to the head to remove it completely and get the throttlebody off. This is anothe reason the EGR blockoff plates come in handy. This is the tougest part of removing the throttlebody, next is the coolant lines under the throttlebody. Hope this helps.

that pipe is connected by two more bolts down on the block. I removed it with just a socket -- it's a tight squeeze, but just be patient. Once that pipe is off, dealing with the valve is much easier...

...but are you planning on blocking off the EGR?

Ok, I finally see what you guys are saying. I'll have to go and look at it later. I'm not planning on removing the assy.
Call it my environmentalist side, but I can't take it out in good conscience- even though I don't have to get smogged b/c I'm still reigstered in OK

When you moving out here supracoup and what city will you be living in?
