Default Question about Supra LSD's

Would a LSD from 1994 Supra Non Turbo fit a 1992 SC400?

I have the LSD, the pumpkin and the driveshaft from a 94 N/A supra

I know the 94 N/A supra has gear ratio or 4.27 vs 3.92 on the SC400. How will this affect my speedometer?

thank you
dennis

wow, maybe we should switch lsd. I have a 95 lsd from an auto TT and it's got the 3.266 gear however im using it on my NA-T. The speedo reads the same, however the actual speed of the car is like 5mph faster. In my case. In your case you would be slower. You'll pick up more torque and loose top end. Im loosing troque but gain high end.

lol. I want more toruqe down low and less top end. I can't go 149mph where I am.

now having said that

would the 94 N/A LSD be a direct bolt on, on the 92 SC400? or would i need something else to make this happen?

I know Hermosa said that i shouldn't go more than +- 7% on the gears, this would put the car at 8.2% difference. As it stands now when I am traveling @70mph the car is actually traveling @ close to 65mph.

Yeah, you have that right. I haven't seen a sc400 diff. However the sc300 is the same as the NA diff. When I did mine I had to change the yoke on the diff. Because the bolt pattern was wider on the auto TT diff. When you pull it out just compare them to make sure the yoke are the same bolt pattern and size. It takes a 36mm sock to get the yoke out.

but if i have the whole pumpking and the driveshaft and the side shaft, couldn't i swap the whole thing and i wouldn't have to worry about the yoke?

by the way, what is a yoke?

thanks

OH, if you have the drive shaft and all then I guess it would be a simple swap. However, just have to check to see if the shaft would lock in with the tranny. The yoke is the little front nipple mount on the trany that bolts to the drive shaft.

I remember some members saying you could swap the second half of the drive shaft along with the new diff. This should work fine. I can only assume that in your case it would be close to the same thing.

One last thing to remember, you will not be able to launch at hight rpm any more because more torque will cause you to spin a lot. But you'll get use to it.

from what i am being told is that i don't even need the driveshaft. The rear pumpkin will simply bolt right on to the same spot.

yoke understood

I know this setup will increase the gearing by 8.2% but i will also have 100% more traction since i am going from open diff to limited slip diff. so my guess is that the end result will be more aggressive launching with faster acceleration with more grip no?
