Default T-78 turbo kit

Hi,

I have not posted in a while but I am going to be purchasing the t-78 turbo kit next week. I am worried about my auto tranny, does anybody know what I should do? I would like to stay auto.

P.S.

What are your thoughts on this kit?

2. the trans will not live supra trans don't like past 550 plus
hope this helps.

What about the fuel system? Injectors for GTE motor won't fit GE. With T-78 you better get a major fuel system upgrade.

Twin Walbro fuel pumps and 540cc injectors. Do you think that would be a good setup?

Thanks,

Sam

if ur wanting to put a t78 on ur n/a... properly...

expect to spend 10k plus

i'd do a GTE swap well before i even considered it...

you'll need

new headgasket(FOR SURE)
new injectors
manifold
exhaust
intake
intercooler
might not clear distributor so you'll need an AEM EMS
fuel pump
turbo

transmission

and if you even plan on spooling that thing very much, you better dismantle the engine and throw some built internals in there

is it really going to be worth it ?

I don't think you understand how big this turbo is. I would get a smaller turbo. Lexcoupe was going to do the same thing with the same turbo but people told him he will blow his car up.

To get the full potential out of a T78, you'd need:

720cc or better injectors
custom cnc machined duel inlet top feed fuel rail
Duel walbro fuel pumps
Duel fuel lines and AN fittings/filters
FPR w/ 1/8" npt Fuel pressure gauge

Greddy T78
4" intake pipe
4" filter
4" couplings
4" pipe clamps
manifold (jetcoated)
external wastgate w/ dump (flange?)
(2) Stainless vaccum actuator lines to the wastegate
Stainless oil feed
Oil return
Heat shielding
good size BOV
mandrel bent intercooler piping (2.5" exit elbow and hotpipe to 3" thereafter)
SERIOUS couplings w/ t-clamps (already killed one myself)
Greddy FMIC

3" DP (thermal wrapped) w/ o2 bung
3" dp back exhaust

HKS Vein Pressure Converter w/ MAP
Apexi SAFC
electronic boost controller
boost gauge
egt gauge

...and considering the hell your tranny is about to endure, i would definitly forsee and upgrade in that area in your immediate future. Think about an lsd too. Lots of power is a pita with an open diff.

Thank you verry much for the detail. This car is my daily driver so I want drivability and power, is this a good kit for me? The gentleman I am buying from speaks very highly of this kit and he runs high 10's with his built auto tranny. What stall speed should I have on the TC? I am probably going to be running about 12psi, do you think the turbo will spool properly at the pressure?

Thanks,

Sam
