Default Is a Borla worth it?

Guys,

I am debating on a Borla exhaust, but being an axle-back, is it really worth it?? I am going to do the setup like Livesc has and I was wanting to know if it would be worthwhile to do the Borla as well??
Will I have any HP gains with the Borla or is it more for show/sound?

Any sound clips of a SC400 with a Borla

Magnaflow is too loud for me/

Thx,

Jonny

The axle back claims 8hp or so. But I don't think with the setup I have, that it would be worth paying $500 for. I would get some Magnaflows or Dynomax's. They are not too loud but have a deep tone to them.

i felt no difference after the borla was installed. just sounds really clean. My friend (sc4) and i revved our cars to compare the noise level and the sc4 sounded a bit louder than the borlas i had on my sc3. keep in mind that i still have my cats and resonators on the car. the exhaust tone is really smooth and not rough like the magnaflows. i hope this helps.

I wish I could just save money and go with the Magnaflows, but I really think it is too loud. I have a 10 month old son so I can't go loud.

I'm going for the "damn that car sounds awesome!"

SO what would that be????

Peace,

Jonny

Dx3: If you leave your resonators in place and just weld on some Magnaflows, it shouldn't be too loud and should yield a deeper tone.

I second SportCoupe's opinion. Keep the resonators and put some Magnaflows. You may be able to remove the center resonator and keep the rears.

How much are the Magnaflows for our cars and where is the best place to get them? Which model??

The only reservation I have is that I have basically brand new stock mufflers.

So u think removing the rear resonators and putting on Magnaflows will yield a better sound than staying with stock mufflers and removing all resonators??

Damn I just don't know what to do!!

The Magnaflows will run about $100 each. Most of the folks using Magnaflows use the 14829 Street Series mufflers. They are built very well and produce a good deep tone. If I were you, I would remove the center resonator and run a dual setup. Depending on how loud you want the exhaust to be, you can remove the center, two rears, or all of them. It will be loud after removing all the resonators.

Guys,

When I started this thread I was seriously contemplating buying Borla's. Then I was going to go with Magnaflows. First, however, I followed in the impressive footsteps of LiveSC400 and did the same exhaust setup as he did. Mad props man!!

Now, I am sooo damn happy with what I did I no longer need mufflers. So, before u waste your money, go do the same, then tell me if u still need mufflers!!

Peace,

jonny
