Default Turbo housing...(exhaust side)

guys this housing look normal to you?
the guy that sold it to me said it's normal and it doesn't nothing to the turbo itself.
i would think the crack would get worse over time with the heat cycling.

Having a cracked exhaust housing is just as bad as having a cracked manifold if not worse. Dont forget the exhaust housing is exposed to insane amounts of heat and metal has a pretty large coefficient of expansion. The crack will get larger over time until it cracks all the way through. If it does, the uneven gas flow may throw the turbine off its balanced axis and ruin the turbo completely. I wouldnt want to chance it

is there ever anything "normal" about having a big crack in a component of an engine or engine bolt on?

that is not good at all. You should return it back to the seller.... or have him guaruntee it in writing or something.

Sounds like he's looking to pull a fast one on you

now he's telling me he's all out of replacements and he needs to wait for a delivery from Garrett. I didn't think they made cracked housings from the factory and sent them out like that.

what a bunch of BS...so now i only have 1/2 of a turbo sitting around collecting dust.
