Default sc400 tranny problems, major, HELP?

my 92 sc400 w/ 207,000 miles starting whining the other day a little bit at low RPMs, today it started slipping really bad. I've been good about changing my fluid with Type IV only. Is it just time for my tirque converter to be rebuilt? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

JP!... well, i've had a code 62 or 63 (it's the number 2 tranny solenoid), but it's been like that for a while and its just like driving in limp mode, but has been driving just fine (but slowly) untill today. my fluid is a little higher than the highest hot notch on the dip stick (about to go drain some). I know that both of these things could contribute, but it just seems too bad of a sound and slippage to be the solenoid causing it, JP, i know you're close by me, if you wanna call me right now, i might bring my car to you in a couple days to have you guys look at it, give you some business, im in richardson, you can call now if you want i'm up all night (3am). thanks! 469-348-3171

OK so when you check the tranny fluid when the engine is hot where is it suposed to be. Last oil change I drained about 2 quarts and put 2 quarts back but when I check it it is above the hot line. Tranny problems scare me so do I need to drain some fluid ?

That's exactly what happened to my tranny a few days before it went kaboom on me.

Lean your ears against the center console (where the automatic tranny shifter is) and listen to see if the whine comes from directly down below.

When I had the whining noises, I thought they were coming from my A/C vents but it turned out that they're from the transmission directly under me.

If the noises are coming from down below and your tranny is slipping, be prepared to get a new transmission. It's not going to last that much longer.

so do I need to drain some trans fluid. A little over the top hot mark on the dipstick after driving.
Why is it so bad for the fluid to be high, surely it would be worse for it to be low.
