Sc400 Manual conversion info...
Looks like i had posted this in the wrong section, my mistake... anyways
For all you SC400 owners that wanna go 5sp, i found a place that makes (thanks to a fellow sf member) bellhousing adaptors for 1uzfe-R154 supra trannys. I have the R154 in my supra and its a very impressive transmission. Holds gobs of pwoer and torque (most ive seen is 800 hp on signal supra) in stock form... Anyways im building up my sc4, and manual is a must, this adaptor will save a ton of fab work... SO i figured ide share if anyone else was interested in converting their sc400 auto - manual... because as we all know Toyota never made a manual tranny to bolt up to the 1uzfe
R154's go for 300-400cdn around here (JDM) so they are fairly cheap and available

Are there gonna be ECU problems because as far as I understand the engine and tranny are on one ECU so affecting one will affect the other. I've always thought this would be a cool mod. Best of luck, and don't be a stranger, I'm sure all of us 400 guys would like to see an ACTUAL swap done and not just rumors. Hope to hear from you again.

I've done a manual swap on a later model ('97) vehicle that was more computer unfriendly, and got it to work by just assigning the gear position (2nd gear),and adding a couple resistors to simulate the shifter solenoids. Not sure if you'd even need the solenoids with the earlier ecu.
What type of flywheel are you going to use?

In the wiring harness there's a series of wires assigned to each gear position;you connect whichever wire as it would be in the switch inside the shifter mechanism in the gear desired. Actually nuetral might even solve some problems , I just never tried that.
An S-AFC would be a good idea since the idle mixture is affected by the swap, and is usually a good idea anyways.
This was in an OBD II, GM vehicle, and the idle wasn't consistent, sometimes it would idle at 1,000 rpm, and sometimes at 800. The final solution in that vehicle was to use an early model ECU,the same year and technology as on our cars.

What's the lastest on this? I'm really starting to want a manual in my SC4
Who's done it?
How much?

Anyone else in Ca who's doing a manual conversion project?

cool thanks for the info.
I already have a S-AFC just wanted to know what to do about the ECU going freaky on me
The Soarer I have is from 93 and as far as I know is OBD old
I decided to do exhaust first before diving into doing some major work like tranny.
