Default +70hp supercharger...."It's electric!.."

"...boogie, woogie, woogie."

Check it out

I know the subject of electric superchargers has already been covered, ridiculed and summariy dismissed because of the sheer lunacy of the concept but this attempt seems on the surface, if you go on their claimed results, to be a legit option...maybe.

Honestly I don't know what I think about it. I was ready to file this somewhere between snake oil salesman and paris hilton quitting the party scene. Figured I'd bring it to the table and get your comments.

According to the "Product Specs".. it only fits 3.5 litre engines and smaller... which would make it a no go for SC400.

I did like the name of the product though: ESC-400

I have a problem with the "no parasitic loss" statement. The energy has to come from somewhere. The alternator taxes the system for the charge and then this is spent for the 15 second boost after which it has drained the battery which the alternator must recharge again.

Even though it says it is for 3.5 liter it might work for a 4 liter engine but not as well.

Nevermind, barely enough air for the stock engine.

Sounds like it's the most powerful one. The idea of electric superchanger is sound, and good electric superchangers should increase horse power. The only problem is to get enough current out of 12V battery.

This electric superchanger instantly takes away 20 of your car horse power (6HP x 3 + some friction). If it is effecient, it may help to bump out a lot of horse power. (But where is the superchanger installed in the pictures?). Agree! Alternator has to work way more. It will reduce fuel efficiency.

They should have some study on using popolar 12V batteries to power this supercharger (to see any real ... damages). Hope one doesn't blow up car electrical system with this supercharger.

Hehe,

It was 1.21 gigawatts flux capacitor.

I'd like to have the Mr. Fusion though.

it only gives you like 15 seconds of boost... so it's more like NO2 than a SC

how are you going to feed your engine spark if it is sucking all the juice?

I read a similar article in one of the auto mags the other day. It looks like a miniature roots type of blower. Fine and dandy, but if you can only use it in 15 sec bursts......why wouldn't you use nitrous instead????

Nitrous gives way more than 70 HP gains and it too can only be used in 15 sec bursts and it's atleast 1/3 the cost? Plus you don't have the headache of the install.

Not really cost effective if you ask me. Why pay all that money for something that hasn't even been proven yet?????

Yall can be the guinea pigs on this one.

Also notice that this looks like nothing more than a very small charger with 3 starter motors attached in series to it. It also says that it draws 1250 amps of power!!!! It also needs a ton of additional parts to make it work. The $2k price is simply for the charger byitself. No batteries, which they recommend 4 of, no wiring, no piping, nothing. Even with a 200 amp alternator, which I KNOW from experience is not cheap at all since it has to be almost always custom made, it takes 1-6 minutes before you can go again for 15 secs. That means that at the track, you would have to let your car run the entire time just to be able to go down the track with it on which will then cause heat soak problems, etc... And we have not even started adding up for labor to install, relocate items, etc.

The more you look at it, the more it's not worth the price. If you told me that I could get it for a car that has NO other options for FI or N2O for around $1k, then it may be ok. Even then, I still don't buy the hype.
