Default Pdx / PNW July Cruise to the Coast

For all of you in the Portland/Pacific Northwest area (and those further away looking for good a summer trip), this is the second annual event (and third time we've done a "Cruise to the Coast"). Last year Bob initially planned it on celica-gts.com, then included classic-celica.com and then being a board member of OTOC, we put it out for everyone with any sort of Toyota product (Lexus, Scion). It was a huge success! We had 12 cars for the 200 mile trip, and 9 cars spent the night on the coast for a very cool party night! There were four 3rd gen Celicas, two Camrys, a 2nd gen Celica, a Cressida, Corona, two Corollas and a 1JZ Mk II Supra.

We had an awesome cruise on twisty country highway roads where we stopped to BBQ lunch. We then continued on to Sunset beach where we drove our cars to the surf for a photo op, then a cruise down the beautiful Oregon Coast with another photo op where those who weren't camping over night departed ways and headed home (or to a hotel to enjoy a night away from their kids), and the rest of us headed to camp.
This year, we are setting it for July 20/21, as that is the closest to a full moon over a weekend we will have - moon rise of a 91% moon will be at 7:11, and sunset is at 8:57, so it will be a well lit night for the partying around the campfire.

The camping will not cost anything, so the only expenses are fuel, food and beverages... and a donation toward firewood would be appreciated.

We will be meeting up at the Hillsboro Fred Meyer (22075 NW Imbrie Dr. 97124) parking lot (NE corner) at 9:30 AM on 07/20/13, and departing at 10:00 07/20/13. Anyone who misses us, can probably catch us at MP 29 where we'll stop for mountain spring water, or MP 28 where the restrooms are. Otherwise, lunch will be at the Elk Viewing area on highway 212.

There are also three hotels close by the campgrounds, the closest being 1.3 miles and 3 minutes away, and they are all on the route we will be taking anyway.
nehalemriverinn Nehalem River Inn, but it's cheapest room is $105, and may need a two day reservation (see website).
Oregon Coast Lodging - Nehalem Bay - Ripple Run Resort & Marina - Lodging Ripple Run Resort has floating houses for rent, the cheapest being $100 a night, and it is only slightly farther away from the first.
home The Bunk House has cabins and rooms, sleeping from two to four people, ranging from like $45 to $125 a night. It looks really cool, but is the farthest away.
