Default Is the NX a Girl's Car?

I'm inclined to think that anything that looks like the NX and performs like the NX is actually a car for people who love good cars, particularly good cars of a certain size. All people. Am I missing something?

I feel like there is a commonality when it comes to small crossovers and labeling a "girl's" car. Lexus can't hide from that either.

I don't see it as a "girl's car". On the contrary, one can argue the aggressive lines are very "masculine".

Yes, it's a girl's car. Yes, it's a guys car. That's why the CUV segment is so hot right now. Wide appeal across a lot of buyer demographics.

Any guy who has to refer to women as 'girls' is probably still living at home with mommy and daddy and living vicariously through their Lexus ownership.

In one word.... "YES!!"

There is no secret that there is a certain type of market for cars and SUV's for masculine and feminine traits. Masculine cars are always larger, bigger engines, and faster. Feminine traits in cars always tend to me more practical, safer, economical (even though it just means being smart).

And if you look at the demographic of NX owners, at least from what i've seen in my area which there are quite a few, there are more female NX owners than Male. All often to be housewives

When I was in the market, a friend asked me what I was looking at. She had to Google the car to see what it looks like, and her response was, "looks mean".

That sort of surprised me, but... well, whatever. That was one "girl's" opinion.

Everyone who has been in the car has only one reaction, and it's generally along the lines of how nice it is.

The VW Beetle is a girls car. It comes with a fake flower in the dash.

Well, I'm a gay man...so is the NX now a Gay Car?

There is a certain sculpted elegance to the NX shape that I thing equally appeals to the masculine and feminine. People who get hung up on such outmoded thinking should probably shop elsewhere.

corradoMR2, I could not agree more. If it were not for my husband liking this "car" so much, my decision would have not come soon. This is a guy who loves his muscle cars, he had a 1967 Mustang fastback that he drove for 20 years (until he wrecked it). Now he has a 2010 Camaro SS/RS.

On his days off he wants to take my NX instead of his Camaro.

More of the guys I work with have commented on my car, much more than the girls.

Lexus Corp just said on their April 2015 conference call:

The new NX models
Continue to outperform expectations
With sales of 3,400 in April
More than 15% ahead of our aggressive internal targets at the start of the month

The other news on NX
Is that it continues to bring new, younger and mostly male buyers into the Lexus dealerships…
As someone on the dealership level, I can say that is true....definitely MORE younger males, 40 and under are purchasing the car!
