Default Tinting the tail lights and 3rd brake light

Has anyone done this? I think it would look amazing... Curious if anyone took the initiative.. obviously an example of an IS below.

I am thinking of trying it.

Depends on how you want to do it? Vinyl or sprayed? I personally like vinyl better since you can remove it when you're sick of it, or if a cop forces you to. However, vinyl is very susceptible to temperature changes and will expand and contract.

Spray is just the complete opposite.

Forgive me for not knowing, but can anyone explain or show me the difference between the above and the unaltered ones?

spran4d, here's an example of a stock IS rear light.

To the OP, no plans on trying it but curious myself.

I have the tails tinted on my IS250 with vinyl. I plan to have my NX done as well. Here are some comparison shots.

I will stop by my tinting place today and see what they say.

my car is parked in a garage 99% of the time so I am not worried about expanding, etc...

You're also in Florida haha.

My wife's old tC was parked in the garage, and with our bitter cold winters, the vinyl would contract while she was parked at work.

OK, so the tinting just makes them darker. Is it legal to make such a change (not that this would necessarily deter me or anyone else from doing so)?

It would look nice. BUT, it gives cops a reason to stop you and look for more violations, if you drive after even ONE drink, that's a problem. Also, if someone rear ends your beautiful car because the light is dimmer....Don't mean to be a jerk, just telling the truth and consequences.

Sounds reasonable to me. I'll find other ways to make my NX look cool.

I did mine just to take the biting edge off the red. Its the lightest shade of tint available so it doesn't impact the visibility much.

That's dependent upon the state in which you live. In PA, tint is a secondary offense, thus you can't be pulled over just for tint.

As for someone hitting you in the rear because of that, I've had friends who have been hit in the rear and the person cried "tint" did it, and the cop did not agree, said the person should be in control of their vehicle and the tint had nothing to do with it.

If it makes you happy to tint the tail lights, do such.
