Upgrading Speakers in NX
Has anyone considered/ pulled the trigger on upgrading the speakers in their NX?
I just ordered my NX and should take delivery in mid-Feb. While I was at the dealership I was comparing the "premium" 10 speaker to the base 8 speaker system and while the 10 speakers is a bit better and has some more base I was not blown away or super impressed. I found out that the speakers are exactly the same, all pioneer, and other than the addition of a center channel and sub (both pioneer) there is no real difference in the 2 systems.
I am thinking of keeping the HU and just upgrading the OEM speakers/sub and amplifiers with JBL& infinity products. I think that even with entry level aftermarkets it would be a big improvement.
(Given that all the speakers are in cm, I assume there will not be any direct replacements, only close fits...)
ANY THOUGHTS??

LOL. I dunno about adding straight pipes to a Lexus.
. I'm not looking to wake up the neighborhood just want to improve the quality. The sound reproduction just sounded a little flat.

Plus, no one wants to hear a 4 cylinder with straight pipes hahaha.
Sorry for an irrelevant post, but thought it was funny.

as i can say :
1) "opened" the NX 8 speaker system
surprise: it is a Fujitsuten Head Unit
2)all speakers are rated 4ohm and made in vietnam
but
front speakers are
-4" wideband pioneer speaker (very close to old TS m5 )
-6" low band woofer speaker (very close to the woofer of the pioneer TSC 1653 kit , for sure , it is very similar :same woofer or a copy?
rear speakers are
-0.75 tweeter inverted dome in paper (no brand )
-6" woofer (no brand)
all rated for 4ohm but realy poor construction and quality
First step :
-still with the stock HU (until the next hollydays i will repalce it with the DEXP pioneer)
-upgrading speakers and filters (only the front)
1xpair TSE 1076 (kevlar coaxial 4" pioneer)
custom filter
1xpair TSM 171 PRS Pioneer
and my litle dog listening "Francis Cabrel Hits"

for sure you have a decent 2 way in front and for some people it will be engouh but for an older iasca-man it is not enough for me
For the places you have in this car , you can get a very very good soundstage in the car with a center channel if you want a precise good balance and stereo .... bass must provide on the dash , and you mus hear only the sound playing on the dash not as our car where you can locate low frequency under the dash and high /mid on the dash etc.... the sound is not well focused ...
With the upgrade i did , i do not have a better spatial localisation , but now all frequency seem to play on the dash and this is what i want
this is only the first step ....
What is better :
-precise tweeter
-non colored voice range
-woofer low frequency is more detailled
-a litlle punch on attack !

Even though Lexus is a premium brand, I wouldn't expect such nice speakers in a sub $50k vehicle. I guess that's why I never opt for features like Mark Levinson because they still sound like poo to me. Too bad I lost interest in car audio otherwise I would have threw away the stock system in my car.
