No. The dealer I've used has always wanted an arm and leg for XPEL UPPF and they don't do a great job. If you're in Edmonton, check out Car Pretty or AutoObsessed for top notch PPF application.

Good to know, albeit a bit late. The dealer already has my arm, leg, and first born.

I've had the clear bra installed on mirrors on 5 cars and never had any problems with noise or whistling. I also used the same company to do all the installs. Perhaps the installer did something unusual when putting the clear bra on the mirrors?

Had decent results on my IS last year using 3M Paint Defender spray on film.

Learned from it and applied it much more smoothly resulting in a clear smooth film coating on the NX. It has protected my IS and should work as well on the NX.

Default 3M Paint Defender Spray

It sounds like you have to know what you are doing to apply the 3M Paint Defender Spray. Amazon has a lot of mixed reviews:

Agreed. On the IS, I applied it a little thin creating a pinhole texture in certain spots. I got the right technique second time around. Proper taping, applying the product in a constant speed, spray distance, and three overlapping left/right, up/down, left/right coats is the trick.

Default Is the paint protection film worth it?

Hi everyone.

I'm new here and am looking into getting the F Sport 2 variant sometime in the next month if I can get a good deal.

One option available here in Canada is the paint protection film. However there is little info on it. Does anyone know what it does (aside from the obvious) and if it is worth it?

Thanks

dynot. Welcome. I merged your thread to this existing one as it can help you on your question.

I bought my NX200t about 5 months ago, was offered paint protection on the entire car by the local Lexus dealership here in Dubai for approximately $500. The film was by a company called DiamondBrite, I did my research, got conflicting reviews but due to a lack of better choice, decided to get it done nonetheless.

My daily commute involved considerable driving on the freeways (hell all roads in Dubai are 8 lane freeways) and I was glad when the film saved my car from a few nasty rock chips.

The only drawback is the constant care of the film, I have to have a "conserver" put on every month else the 3 year warranty would be void. We don't get water to clean our own cars in apartment buildings and taking the car to the local service shop does not always guarantee that the service guys will put on the conserver.

All in all, I think it's a viable option, I would recommend it.

Conserver? None of the major suppliers of PPF here require such a thing.

Could be a marketing ploy? Or maybe the extreme weather conditions? We average about 110F to 120F for a good part of the year.

Yes, could be. Either way, I think my car looks great with the paint protection and I can sleep better at night knowing that the paint will remain fresh for a few more years.
