Agreed. I think I saw a post where the average "combined" fuel consumption for an NXt was about 24 mpg, so I'm right there at the average.

So far my combined mileage is about 20.5 mpg. I'd say 85% city and 15% highway driving. I am not impressed but hope it will improve with warmer temp and after engine is more broken in. I have had my NX just over a month but have not reached 600 miles yet. Yes, I need to drive more.

That's pretty good for this colder time.

In comparison, my wife uses the NX for her 1 mile city commute and gets a dismal 17 mpg (14 L/100km). This is among the worst possible scenarios where the engine doesn't have time to warm up, it's stop and go acceleration, and in winter. Same scenario with the RX, and she got a painful 14 mpgs (17L/100km). This is definitely not representative.

Good news is that it takes her over a week to burn a gallon of gas. She could commute in a dump truck and your overall fuel cost would still be very small. Haha

20% My CT200h gets approximately 2mpg less in the winter because of the winter blend vs summer blends.
I get 41-42mpg winter vs 43-44mpg summer......varies a little depending on how much you use remote starting to get the car up to temp.

20% on 20mpg would be 4mpg.........so a vehicle that got 20mpg in summer gets 16 in winter. Not from my experience. My Truck varies only 1-1.5mpg in winter.....from 17 to 16-15.5......

My Ct would get 8mpg less.......and it doesn't .....2-3 tops......Butane is used in winter fuels and from studies lowers mpg 2-8% , not 20%. If you are getting 20% less something is wrong.

20% is about what I see from Summer to Winter near Chicago on my 2006 Toyota Prius. I get right around 50mpg in the summer, and it goes down to about 40-42 in the winter. The main difference is that it has to run the gas engine to warm up the catalytic converter to get it to temp, that uses more gas naturally and lowers the fuel economy. I would assume most of the Lexus stuff works the same.

Your car does not warm up the cat to become more efficent.

When you start your car in the cold, your thermostat is closed, and it monitors engine coolant temp while it begins to heat a closed volume of coolant (fluid is not moving). Your car is running in open loop which means it has a fixed amount of gasoline depending upon throttle position (it doesn't look at air quality/humidity/driving condition/what the O2s are seeing), it just pours fuel. As the engine temp increases, and the thermostat opens to normal position and coolant now flows normally. Once that happens, you go into closed loop, in which now the ECU looks at all the parameters.

You could remove your cats and that would change none of that. Heck, my camaro doesn't have cats because I blew one out on a full pull.

I do not agree. 20% is not that much. For a car getting 30mpg, a 20% reduction is 6mpg. So you'd get 24mpg. That is very possible depending on weather conditions and how far the car is driven.

My wife's IS will go from 28mpg in good air to 21 in freezing air...same road being driven, and that is a reduction of 25%. Again, nothing wrong.

You need to see the fuel tables in order to say "what is reasonable"

From the last reset, we are currently getting 27.7mpg. My wife drives it daily in Eco mode, When I drive the car in sport mode, it goes down to about 27.4, and less. My wife tries to increase her MPG, I blow it out of the water with my jack rabbit starts and driving in sport mode..lol

Early days yet in our NX300h F Sport, but we're seeing about 32-33 mpg in mainly city driving with some freeway (on Eco) and about 30 mpg in Sport mode. The same route in the RX450h usually takes about 28 mpg as a comparison.

About to hit 3k miles in LA traffic on the daily. Im avg about 24.5 mpg which i think is pretty good with the amount of stop/go driving during my morning and evening commute.

I'm getting about 21mpg combined. Most, if not all of my driving is city driving.
