" the 2015 Lexus NX 300h is one of only two hybrids in the segment".

ah, er.. could someone please rewind that tape?

Mercedes and Audi only offer Diesels so no Hybrids there. Neither Acura or Volvo have either a Diesel or a Hybrid offering so....who is this mysterious "other" Hybrid competitor in this market. EXACTLY what tree am I not seeing in this forest?

The Q5 is available as a hybrid. No mention of the X3? No doubt an oversight, but a big seller in the segment.

Ah, so it is! I guess I am still aligning the NX to the Q3. The Q5 Hybrid is closer (in my mind) to the RX as it's price also reflects with a $54K equipped price point which would also remove it from contention. If Lexus can bring this significantly shorter wheelbase (than the Q5 & RX) NX HYBRID in for $9K less than the RX/Q5 Hybrid options...

Q5 is NX competitor, once for all. Just because hybrid is crazy expensive, does not make it RX450h competitor... it makes it overpriced suv that nobody buys (hybrid version) :-).

If NX was $80k, it would not be Range Rover competitor.

In the U.S. most will compare the Q3 with the NX and X3. In the U.S. the Q3's MSRP starts out at $32,500.

The Q7 would be compared to the GX 460. In the U.S the Q7's MSRP starts out at $47,700.

The NX would never be $80K, that's why Lexus has the LX 570 to cover that market...

Audi's Q series consists of:

Q1 (Europe)
Q3
Q5
Q7

Not sure I understand why the Q3 would be cross shopped. I'm certainly not, I'm looking at the Q5. The X3 (38,500), GLK (37,900), and Q5 (38,900) all start in the same ballpark. The Q3 is a class size down from those three.

I think the Audi Q3 is closer to the BMW X1 and Mini Countryman. They are like Compact SUVs. The NX is closer to X3 and Q5 which are mid size SUVs.

Ah, yes you are correct and I agree. The Q3 would compete with the X1. Lexus would need to bring the C-HR over to the Lexus side to compete with the likes of the Q3 and X1.

Very soon the Q1 will arrive and will compete with BMW's MINI.

I tried to find a link but that's an advert section, one of those looks like part of the paper but isn't.

I was a paperboy as a kid and this picture kinda took me back, who sees a newspaper really anymore!

^^^^ Ooooh, your right now that I think about it! That's sneaky trying to make it look like a regular non biased review. Thanks for pointing that out.
