NX hybrid to get 34-36 mpg combined

Yea the engine in the RX hybrid is also much stronger and doesn't have to work as hard to get up to speed even though its 700lbs heavier. The NX will probably get much much better city mpg than highway.

Looking at the competitors in the segment, the Q5 TDI gets 24/31, Q5 hybrid gets 24/30, and GLK Blutec gets 24/33. Getting somewhere between 34-36 would be fantastic for the NX

Seems to me looking at other country's figures the NX is estimated at 20% reduction fuel economy over the ESh with the same engine. Add 400 lbs and AWD and it takes a toll.

Let us also give Lexus credit for offering accurate MPG ratings. They could do the Hyundai/Ford/Honda thing and say 40 MPG to get good press and attract even more customers only to restate figures and have to send checks to pissed off people.

I rather them be accurate and offer it at 35 MPG than have them say 40 MPG and it only makes that under some crazy idea conditions like 5 friends driving down Mt. McKinley with 13" wheels and 165 series tires.

Note that it is harder to make increases in MPG as the rating is higher. The next Prius is having a hard time just gaining 5 MPG for example...

A 35 MPG Lexus NX is simply the idea DD for many people. I don't think they will be able to stock enough.

Agreed ... The C Max went from 47 city/47 highway to 45/40 and now to 42/37 ... Very frustrating as I would've kept my Prius, but then again I will receive $1100 in checks total by the time this is said and done. The C Max is a much better vehicle than the Prius in every other way though.

I too think the NX will sell like crazy ... especially overseas. I hope the mpg comes out decent or may take a hard look at the diesel X3.

Same here. I can achieve or beat the CITY rating mileage on my 450h but on Hiway I can hard achieve that (especially when driving 80 mph on interstate.

I am presently averaging better than 28 mpg (measured at the pump) with our 2010 RX450h. I got 30.8 mpg on my last tank of gas -- with around 85% highway miles at 62-65 mph. I would probably be averaging more if we lived someplace where the terrain was consistently level. You lose at lot of "mpg's" in this heavy car when your "in-town" driving involves a lot of rises and dips. I would expect the NX300h to do better, but an average of 34 mpg in a smaller, less powerful vehicle would not be much of an improvement over what I get now. Nevertheless, I think this smaller crossover will sell very well, especially if it rides as well as the RX. Priced right, it should be attractive to people looking to upgrade from, say, their RAV4s.

I think it will sell wonderfully. I am curious to see the ride dynamics and comfort. I am hoping it has Lexus like soundproofing and comfort rather than being super firm and sporty.

As I've mentioned before, I'd planned to wait for the NX300h before upgrading from my '07 RAV4. But then I found this CPO RX450h with only 15,000 miles on it at a very fair price. It was just too good a deal to pass up and I'm glad I went for it. I too am very curious about the ride and comfort of the new NX300h. I will test drive one when they're available, but I have no intention of trading.

I think I'm actually a little high. Smaller engines have to work harder. NX weights haven't been released yet. From the last meetings I was in, the NX hybrid gains were not nearly as impressive as one would expect. Unless something drastic changed in final tuning, I wouldn't expect more than 32 combined.
