Default Dumb question regarding snowboard

i rarely go ski or snowboarding, and have overseas friends that wants to go, so I'm taking 3 people plus myself. I have a snowboard and I have no idea how to fit this in since the middle of the backseat cannot flip down on it's own. stupid design?! If I flip one seat down, then two people have to cram together. I wasn't planning on getting a rack because this is a one off situation, any suggestion on how to make this work?
thanks!

Just taking one snowboard for 4 people?

Without a rack, your best bet is to rent a vehicle that will work for you.

Depending on the width and length of the snowboard, you might be able to rest it on top middle of the rear seat a slide all the way back against rear hatch.

For this "one off" situation you may want to just rent a board when you get there. It would be cheaper than renting another vehicle. I know that doesn't really answer your question though. If you are committed to taking your board and four occupants, I think you would have to have it outside the vehicle on a roof rack or one of the racks that you hang off a trailer hitch. Of course, that might necessitate a hitch if you don't already have one, but perhaps you would have more use for that down the road?

Not much help I'm afraid but I can't think of any other options.

If you're entertaining renting a vehicle, might be cheaper to install a hitch (easy) and purchasing some bike/board rack:

On my other car, mid-sized sedan, I was able to fit a snowboard parallel to front, rear doors and a seat on a passenger side, where seatbelt is. You may try to do it on NX, if you will, make sure you wrap edges with some cloth to avoid scratching the interior.
