Default Power Back Door won't open

Problem started yesterday...

When I press and hold the button on the remote or on the dash, I get two beeps.
But the back hatch door won't open.

I can force it open manually - needs some effort!
But once it's opened manually, it needs to be closed manually as well.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the forum. Check it's not disabled in your display settings.

Check it's enabled as corradoMR2 mentioned.

Then, check that the doors are unlocked. Pressing the button on the dash does NOT automatically unlock the door. On the remote however, it does automatically unlock. Note the remote does not work if the car is running.

Can you tell me where in the menu system to find the setting? Thanks!

From the Steering wheel mounted controls, scroll right or left until you see the Settings (gear) icon. You'll see the setting right in there. Hope this is your issue...

Thank you so very much! This was the issue - I turned the setting back ON and it works.

This problem seems to be a software glitch of some sort though, I had never gone to the menu earlier to disable the setting.

Thanks again!

Random aside..

Congrats on the A4 @corradoMR2! Looking forward to an IS comparison post.

Great! Perhaps someone had access to your car and accidentally turned it off...

Haha thanks. Here's the Coles Notes version, skipping reliability since it's too early:

IS
Sportier, more unique styling (though subjective)
Smoother engine, better sound (V6 vs turbo 4)
Slightly better handling/balance
Better ergonomics/ease of operation
Better base sound system

A4
Better tech
Richer interior with some better materials (real aluminum vs plastic F Sport trim)
Far better fuel economy (26 vs 20 mpg)
Slightly quieter ride
Roomier interior

Both have equally good ride quality.
