Default Lexus Wheels

Are the 18" wheels that come with the summer tires, the same as the All Season wheel with a different finish or a different wheel? If they're the same, has anyone attempted to refinish their factory wheels? Not referring to dipping them. Thanks!

If you look closely between the two, they appear to have the same pattern but with different finishes.

Thanks, that's what I thought as well. I much prefer the summer wheel finish.

Yep, wheels are identical as AndyL stated except for finish. The graphite wheels (with the summers) are not offered on NX's in Canada.

As for finishing wheels, I've done that with other wheels such as here, but it's never as durable as powder coated or factory finish.

I picked up a second set of the factory wheels with snow tires and TPMS for winter so am thinking about refinishing my summer wheels. Love that grey finish.

Always nice to stick to OEM especially if you got a good deal

$1600 CDN, for same wheel with Michelin X Ice 3's and factory TPMS. I was pretty pleased with that.

That's a really good deal. It is from your Lexus dealership?

Personally, I also prefer the hyper silver/graphite finish that comes with summer wheels for US market. The one that has machine finish and black paint is not durable in Canadian harsh winter, IMO.

In fact, I came across an aftermarket wheel company web site that classifies machine finish as non-Winter approved.

Solid example -- https://www.fastwheels.ca/categories.aspx

Try searching for wheels for NX and if you check the "Winter Approved", you will see all wheels with machine finish are all gone.

It was from a Lexus dealer, just not my local one.

My 2016 NX 200t F Sport came with the summer tires & wheels. I made the dealer swap the summer tires for all season. They had all season tires in the summer wheel size in stock. They did it for free but if I would have had to pay the tires were around $1000 installed (before tax).

That's a lot of new Lexus's in your signature, family preference, or do you like driving variety?

Both. I drive the NX, my wife has the GS, and my daughter is driving the IS. But I get to drive the GS sometimes I also forgot to add the past Lexus vehicles to the list. And if you go back 10 years there was also 4 Mercedes, 1 Audi, 1 Dodge, 1 Jeep, and 5 Nissans. We like new cars
