Crunching brake noise when releasing pedal. Dealer says it's common to Lexus?
I just did my 5k mile service at a Lexus dealer and the top item I wanted addressed was the very loud crunching noise made by the brakes whenever releasing the brake pedal. This has happened ever since we bought it in April. The noise is loudest when starting a cold car.
To my surprise the service tech told me it's a common problem to Lexus and demonstrated the same thing happening in one of their other NXs. He said it's especially loud in the NX. To me this is unacceptable from any car, let alone a Lexus. I asked him to contact Lexus about it and get back to me, but I don't expect any resolution.
If it's indeed a common problem, why can't I find any other complaints on this forum or elsewhere? Does anyone have this problem? I don't care if it's harmless noise, I don't want to hear it.

I've never noticed it, but I also know there are some differences with the brakes on a hybrid so it may not be a fair comparison. Our 2013 RX didn't exhibit any brake noise and it wasn't a hybrid so it did not have the regenerative braking.

I have noticed this somewhat, though the car is fairly new so I'm not sure if it will continue. I notice it most after it has been parked for a while, especially overnight.
Note: I do park it outside, so the car gets inundated with dust and moisture in this weird Texas summer we are having.

I'm just surprised this is acceptable for people. I've never had a car of any kind that did this and don't want to hear it.

I've noticed it most when I really jam on my brakes to turn it on. If I just gently depress the peddle enough to start the car it isn't an issue. my previous several cars did it too, though, so it didn't seem way out of the ordinary to me.

I'm in the South, had mine nine months and haven't noticed anything like what is described by op, however my other vehicle (Tacoma pickup) if not driven in a few days the brakes will squeal at the beginning of use. In this case i'm sure it is slight rust coating on discs. If car is driven daily can't imagine the problem.
