FWD Discontinued in 2017
Just noticed this in latest issue of Car and Driver and also on cars.com. I wonder what effect this will have on 2017 pricing? Has anyone confirmed any other changes?

That would be an interesting move for Lexus...especially since it would increase the base price by about $2000 (at least $1400 for AWD and price increase of at least $500 for Lexus Safety System Plus, which will be standard across the range). It wouldn't change anything fuel economy wise since the NX is FWD most of the time and becomes AWD when it loses traction, which is plus, but it wouldn't make the NX a "performance" SUV. Having AWD would be pretty much useless for most owners here in SoCal since we don't get treacherous weather here and most owners just use it for driving around town.

That may be true, but I doubt most people will notice the 0.2 seconds difference for 0-60 times.

It seems odd that Lexus just began building the RX F-Sport which has been AWD only
up till now as either FWD or AWD starting in 2017.

Maybe I should make up my mind about buying sooner and get a '16 instead of waiting for a '17 with likely significant price increases. I've looked here and other places and don't have a good feel for how much AWD helps with torque steer, which would be about the only reason I'd want it.
How long before the selection of '16s starts dwindling?

The pursuit of F
I'm skeptical since the FWD model accounts for a significant sales portion of the NX, though I don't have the figures...
Well, in Canada, AWD is the only available option (same with the RX), but we have longer periods of snow/inclement weather throughout the year.

Pole Position
The September Car and Driver had a new car review and they too noted the FWD NX was gone for 2017. They did not make a distinction between the Turbo and Hybrid drivetrains. Definitely some misinformation floating around on this subject.
