NuLuxe seats on NX300h
Currently driving a 2002 RX300. Looking to buy a new car. Test drove a NX300h, but found the NuLuxe seat much firmer than RX leather. Does it soften over time or will it always feel hard? The RAV4 Hybrid Limited has a more comfortable, non-leather, seat. Really want to stay with Lexus, but not at the cost of comfort, especially since it is much more expensive that Toyota.

I haven't really noticed much difference with the NuLuxe in our ES after about 15 months. We have only had the NX for a few months so I don't have enough data to form any conclusion with that model. I will say the NX seats are more comfortable than the leather in my 2013 RX but more because of shape than fabric.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I would prefer NuLuxe over leather. I will have to try sitting in the car again, as I would prefer to stay with Lexus for the excellent service. Just don't want to spend a ton more money and be uncomfortable.

I had NuLuxe in an ES for 3 years, I would not say the material changed at all over that time. As Ward 6096 wrote, it has more to do with the shape and cushioning of the seat than the topper material. Previous leather seats on my cars often developed creases or slight looseness in the flat surfaces, but that was just the material. NuLuxe looked like the day I got it. Passenger weight and seat design and structure probably affect seat feel more over time. Ideally it stays the same, but hard to accomplish.
I had a Ford Crown Vic company car once that a predecessor only had for 3 months, but it felt like I was sitting on a board--he weighed 250+. Luckily the company took pity and got me a new car.

Thanks for your feedback. I think you're probably correct. It's hard to make a determination after a short time sitting in the car during a test drive. Too bad dealerships don't let you keep the car for a few days.
