Default Dash Cam on NX

Hi All,

I searched and there are some threads on installing a front and rear dash cam on the NX but tapping power from the vehicle.

I am asking if anyone on here has a dash cam without using the power tapping method and just used the normal auxiliary port method? And where did you hide the wires (if even possible)? are there other power outlets other than the one in the center armrest?

I ask because there was a hidden outlet behind my glovebox on my FRS and i was able to hide the wire through the front A pillar interior trim piece and front headliner...i want to try and take the same approach for the NX.

Thanks!

I have my dash cam wired up to one of the USB ports on the central armrest. I hid the wire up the ceiling, down the A pillar, under the passenger glove box, along the centre console and up into the central armrest.

I have a 3 socket power outlet in the centre armrest and a 4 port USB adapter. My dash cam runs off 5V USB.

Yep exactly. The USB cuts off a few minutes after you turn off your engine.

I have 2 dash cams.

One of them has an internal battery that can record if it sense movement, and records video for a short while, then switches off again.

Miners slightly different from yours. It records continuously but only stores a few seconds of footage before and after an event is detected.

I'm just glad it doesn't throw up any errors unlike my BMW which reminds me about battery drain every morning.

I'm a bit weary of the models which do that, do you have something that prevents the battery from going flat?

Yes there's an automatic cutoff at a user-preset voltage. The bmw battery monitoring system is less forgiving.
