I saw a 2016 RX tonight and I'm not liking the DRLs on it.
First of all, it is not a continuous beam of light from one end to the other end (the "hook" and the "barb" portion of the hook). As you can see in the stock photo below you can see the individual LED bulbs equidistantly spaced throughout the DRL. On the NX, the DRLs have a solid beam of light throughout the hook (see my sig photo).
Secondly, unlike the NX, the RX DRLs are part of the headlamp assembly which makes them blend in with the headlights at night. This makes them not stand out as much as on our NXs—which I prefer.
Our ES has the DLRs incorporated into the headlight assembly and I can't honestly say I like one better than the other. In some ways the single assembly is simpler and doesn't ooze water at the car wash like the independent type on the NX do. The NX style is a bit busier perhaps. As for seeing it coming down the road, they both stand out. Like any design feature, they both have pros and cons.
I've also seen on some Lexus models (can't recall off-hand...certain older CTs maybe?) where the DRL hook is interrupted by the actual headlamp. The circular headlamp almost bisects the DRL hook completely which—IMHO—is the least attractive.
The RX pictured above has the base LED headlamps/DRL. The upgraded RX triple-L LED headlamps has the solid-looking DRL, very similar to the NX's except the DRL integration. I prefer the the triple L lights/DRLs on both models but don't mind either model's base lights.

Ah...it must have been a base RX that I saw last night.
Hmm...I get my NX washed at least once a week (many times twice a week) and have never experienced said oozing.
I'm not sure why there would be any difference, and admittedly I'm very ****, but after washing it and drying it, as soon as I go down the road, the water runs straight back out the point on the rear of the swoosh. Maybe you have harder water

My car wash guys use an air hose to blow out any water lurking in all the nooks, crannies, and creases when drying my car.
I think the RX ones look more "formal" and conservative. The NX is a more funkier car than the RX, makes sense that the DRLs are separated and dramatic!

To be fair to Lexus, this could have been at one point in time before they standardized on a specific look for their "hook-n-barb" styled DRLs.
I don't like referring to the Lexus DRL shape as "nike". Nissan's DRLs look more like nike than any other vehicle...
Sorry, I can't agree with that. The Lexus ones look way more "Nike" than the Nissan ones - they have a short hook and a long "tick", just like the Nike logo. The Nissan one has a 3 angular crease which isn't really Nike.

Subjective. I think the RX looks better, especially the non-F Sport model and the rear.
It even got a better engine that's faster and more fuel efficient.
I don't know what engines you have in your country, but we get the RX 200t, 350 and 450h, which all are the same (200t) or more powerful than what's offered in the NX.
The only thing the RX got over the NX is a longer feature list.
Naturally, as it is a more upmarket vehicle in the product range.
