Towering package and capacity
Hi all
First timer here.
I've a NX300h, absolutely loving it, planning on a road trip with it in 8 weeks.
was wanting to install the towing package, below is an extract of the manual:
■ GCWR*
6835 lb. (3100 kg)
■ TWR*
1500 lb. (680 kg)
■ Unbraked TWR*
1000 lb. (450 kg)
*: These models meet the tow-vehicle trailering requirement of SAE International per
SAE J2807.
TWR (braked) of 1500lb is really light.
Has anyone towed 3000lb (1360kg) continuously?
I was going to tow a trailer with TWR(braked) of 2500-3000lb to go around New Zealand on a road trip (about 2000 miles or 3000kms round trip). but after reading the manual I may have to ditch the idea of towering the 3000lb trailer...
any ideas?
Thanks!
ps. 2013 LX570 has a huge TWR of 7000lb or 3175kg!!

I definitely wouldn't try to tow your 3,000 pound rig with it...no way.
The LX750 has a full sized truck frame with an optional V8...two different animals.

You're going to be hard pressed to do anything to get around this. Remember, this little CUV only has a 2.0 liter engine, so any towing is going to be a challenge, especially given how much of its OWN weight it has to haul around. I'm actually surprised it has a 1,500 pound capacity as it is.

unbraked TWR is to be under 750kg(about 1500 lb) for both Australia and New Zealand
I have researched some online article including this one:
http://www.thetowcarawards.com/tow-car/lexus-nx300h/
it seems it can tow 1500kg.
I am going to have the tow bar installed and tow my trailer to do the 2000 mile/3000km round trip.
here is the New Zealand specification available on the internet...
