Pre-Collision System with Pre-Collision Braking and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
I am in San Francisco bay area and highly possible to buy NX300h by the end of October or first week of November.
So far I have contacted (by e-mail) many dealers in this area and also looked every inventory listed on Cars.com and Edmunds.com.
Very interesting, almost every dealer has very similar NX300h spec. Such as AWD, blind spot monitor, Nav package, Premium package, power rear door. And most of them are MSRP at around 50~51K.
Then, no one has this option I do really want: "Pre-Collision System with Pre-Collision Braking and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control". On Lexus.com, it's only $900 option!
I tried to ask some dealers and they all told me that unless I want to customize my own NX300h and wait for 3~4 months, none of the dealer will have this option on their inventories.
Is that true?
By the way, most dealer can offer me 48K before tax and fee. Is that a resonable price? Any chance go down to 47K or 46K? (no trade-in, no lease, pay cash)
Thanks!!

I used the Lexus site to check the inventory in your area and it looks like they don't have any with pre-collision. So they might be telling the truth that you might have to special order it. Also we're in the middle of model year transition so stock is low across the board making it harder to get the car you want off lot.
The other way to get a car like that is to get someone else's unsold custom order. You can ask your dealer if such a car is coming to your area and if there is one then you can ask the dealer to keep you informed as to it's status.
In my opinion a safety feature such as pre-collision should be standard. Like the OP said it's only $900 and if they were to make it a standard feature then they could save money on it's production costs.

The National Transportation Safety Board has released a report recommending that the federal government and auto industry take immediate steps to ensure that collision avoidance systems become standard on all new passenger and commercial vehicles.

With that in mind I suggest you keep looking for a car with this option. My dealer here in Ohio obtained my car from a dealer in Virginia!

In certain regions, the dealers will not stock vehicles with certain options. An example is in my region (Southwest) the dealers do not stock inventory with Triple Beam Headlights and Pre-collision. Some dealers might be open to dealer trade... if you can find one you like. Your best option is to special order the vehicle they way you like it. That is what our dealer said. We settled on an NX that was on the lot as we couldn't wait the 3 months or so for it to arrive. Good Luck.
