For me, this was of the NX's strong points. I wanted to sit higher than a passenger car but have the upscale features of a Lexus, all in a smaller package than the RX. My wish was granted, my cherished folks at Consumer Reports be damned.

I own an RX previously, as well, and am loving this perfect sized (compact) SUV!

In some of their materials Lexus calls the NX a Luxury Crossover.

I just think Lexus wants to take advantage of the Buzzword-o-The-Day ("crossover").

Some say that vehicles with body on frame construction like GX, LX, Escalade etc. are SUV's while those with unibody construction are CUV's.

Although the RX is unibody, it has won all kinds of awards by JD Power for "SUV of the Year", "Best Value for an SUV" etc. Based on this (and other references), I consider the NX a compact SUV and not a Crossover UV.
