Default Is there a way to permanently turn off auto-dimming mirrors?

Since I have tinted windows all around I find that the auto-dimming when active to be a bit too dark. So I turn them off for better visibility during night time driving.

The problem is that they always turn back on and I have to turn them off.

Is there a way to permanently turn them off?

So you want to turn it off permanently, but the solution to turn it off permanently isn't the solution you want.
So what is it you're looking for?

I suppose you could do this:
  1. Trace the hot wire from the mirror to the fuse block or any other place that you can access to:
  2. Install a switch somewhere that opens the circuit.

What I was looking for is something in the settings of the mirror. I have had auto-dimming mirrors before which allowed for turning off the feature. I thought this mirror setup had the same thing.

The power button on the rear view mirror turns off auto dimming on interior and exterior mirrors. I tested it tonight on my way home.

My solution was to take a small piece of a cotton ball and stuff the light sensor hole.

It's inelegant but it works.

Wrap it in duck tape:

Pic of he inelegant solution.

At first I thought the hole wasn't deep enough to hold but it looks like it's there to stay.

I thought about using a piece of tape but decided against it since I don't want left over glue residue.

I did a terrible job in my trunk with tape and a piece of sound damping material. lol :-(

use a black sharpie and dab the cotton ball, make sure it's dry, then shove it back in
