I didn't want the service department to have to empty out my cargo area to get to the wheel lock socket when I bring it in and they do a tire rotation.
So I wrapped the socket in velcro and stuck it next to the first aid kit.
yeah, I thought of the glove compartment or the center console, but then I have to remember to take it out when I bring it in.
By sticking it where I did, they would have to move it to be able to get to where the socket is usually expected. And I did white to make it stand out a little more (plus, that's what I had in the garage already).
It has been my experience that the dealer / service dept has (at least they used to) a set of master wheel lock sockets. They don't use yours when you take it in (unless you have an aftermarket set of lock lugs). You can test this by putting some obscure mark or string or snippet of paper on yours and see if that mark is in the same place / same way afterwards.

I moved mine to the glove box. I would be too worried it would fall and get lost if I used velcro since I am moving sports equipment in and out of the back 2-4 times a week.
There is no security bubble :-). I once had rims and wheels stolen in the past that had wheel locks. Police told me exactly how they did it with something anyone can buy. Wheel locks are a deterrent-ish, not a guarantee.
