Default Blind Spot Monitoring

Hi guys

I am new to this forum, anyone got the NX with blind spot monitoring? Think it is a necessary option?

Mine came equipped with it, and I'm really getting to like it. I do a lot suburban to city rush hour driving, so lane changing on congested major arteries is a way of life. The blind spot monitor is very handy to just glance at the side view mirrors and see the blinking amber light telling me there's someone in my blind spot and they're too close for me to do a safe lane change; less neck stretching (which requires taking one's eyes off the road, even for a split second).

Ditto. It's not a substitute but an aid. I use it a lot in my other car and there are more blind spots in the NX. Especially helpful in rain.

agree with DigMyM35x and the lack of visibility with the NX - I like the blind spot monitor a lot

Yes, one of my favorite features. Had an 06 RX 330 and blind spot was horrible. The BSM adds another level of safety in my mind. Also that rear cross-traffic alert is excellent.

Thanks for the input. I read reviews that the NX has somewhat of poor visibility and it was recommended to get this option as well.

I have the mud guards, and they don't seem to impact this issue; yes, it's annoying.

I'm not as handy with cars as others here, but there's a very detailed (w/photos) DIY thread to address the dirty bottom door issue: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/nx-...-seal-fix.html

Get the Blind spot monitor and cross traffic alert by all means!

The first day I had the NX I was about to back out of a parking spot when the warning beeping started. I didn't know what it was but then out of nowhere a car came right by me that I never saw. It was paid for right there!.

I had a similar incident when parking and backing out, it started beeping, but it wasn't a car, but pedestrians.

Great feature.

BSM is definitely worth it.

My car is coming with it. Personally, I see it as more of an aid. I always use my mirrors, but this is a nice little gut check if you're driving in traffic and trying to look at multiple things at once.

Love the feature and the rear cross traffic is nice too. Like others have said, its not like it replaces mirrors and looking, but when you see the light, you instantly know there is no need to look, just wait till the light is off, then you can check your mirrors (good sized mirrors on the NX), do the little lean forward thing to check that the coast is clear to change lanes. You only have to do this once b/c the BSM scouted for you, instead of several times when you may find someone is next to you or moving up next to you.

I actually like the parking assist too as I'm still getting used to judging the front of this vehicle.

Once you have BSM with the RTCA, you won't want to drive a car without it.

And I echo the above and would never buy another car without those two features.
