Trying to decide on a NX, couple questions
I have narrowed it down to 2. Was able to get around $1000 off the MSRP so far.
But one of the dealerships I noticed has a $499 charge fee for Nitro Fill/PolySteel that they say they do to all their cars. This is added after the sticker price. However, this dealer is getting this car brought to them from another dealership the next state over if I purchase from them. So it isnt done yet and I guess I should be able to tell them I dont want it.
So what does everyone think of nitrofill and polysteel? Is it necessary? Worth the money? Do I need it done by the dealer right now? Does it void any sort of warranty without it?
Thanks, this is our first lexus and it wasnt planned, as my wife's car caught fire after some styrofoam got caught on the catalytic converter on the highway and it went completely up in flames. But we are in our mid 30s and its time to step up to something nicer.

If the dealer won't drop the nitro fill and Polysteel charge from a car in stock, or declines to leave them off the NX coming in, I'd recommend walking away. These items are classic HUGE profit makers for dealerships and just not worth anything near what they try to get for them. It sounds like they are taking advantage of the demand for the NX. If you hold firm that you're not paying for these items, you should be OK.
If you are interested in finish protection, you can get it added at good detailers. Probably a better job/product and a lower cost.
Good luck in your search.

Agreed with everyone else. Stay firm on that. Dumb dealer. They shouldn't be getting away with automatically adding that to the sticker. $499 is better used elsewhere (cquartz as someone suggested or even towards a full frontal clear bra)

Old-school dealer tactics, trying to take advantage of a popular new model by making accessories mandatory. Skip and run far away after telling them to keep their scam. He's basically writing up an extra $499 to the sticker for items that cost about $10-20 to install. The sad thing is, most customers will believe the BS and pay it.

Nice deal! That's a fair amount off considering it's a hot, new model in high demand. Enjoy and send some pics when you pic her up.

Did not go with that offer even though they were willing to take it off. Put down a deposit and should pick up a new NX next week. Was able to get $3200 off MSRP. AWD 200T with navigation, premium packages, plus parking assist, power rear door and blind spot monitoring. Feel like I got a great deal, just have to drive 5 hours to pick up but it's worth it. Thanks for the advice.
If you prefer I can PM you what I am looking for and an email address you can pass on to the dealership if they want to contact me. Enjoy the new ride!
