You were probably talking with a dealer's salesperson as these have not been released o the public (yet). I learned that our local dealer was getting their demo orientation yesterday.

Not really it happens just by luck I was going down Santa Monica blvd and just run into the cars. Pure luck I know California they get priority on cars all over the US......

I manage to talk to the driver of the blue one and he really likes the car he works for corporate not sure we're lucky guy.....I wanted to stop him but there was to much traffic.....

So the answer is "Yes, it was being driven by corporate and not released to the public". Sounds like the same thing we had here that day.

A good while back now, I saw an X6 on the road here in North Carolina a good solid SIX months before it was released to the public. We later learned (from a trade magazine) that the BMW development team had been doing some 'real world' testing here in the NC mountains to verify the vehicles characteristics. I DID get some pictures of it and posted them on one of the BMW forums and everyone was BLOWN AWAY that they had been "spotted in the wild" but it did not make them anymore "available to the public" than did you seeing the salespeople driving them on the streets in CA but good job catching some pics of one on the streets "In the wild" in advance of formal release.
