Is this really AS? I've seen this color on RX before and looked hideous.
"Yes" - sort of/sometimes. Only under a specific lighting/angle you're viewing it. AS has many tones and as you move around the car, those tones change.
Took these the other day at my local Lexus dealer, inground parking - remind me of Bamboo Pearl.
Bamboo Pearl has far more green and gold in the paint.
Yes, you'll likely never seen any tinge of green in AS as I have in Bamboo Pearl when I owned an 04 and 07 RX both in that color , but you will sometimes see the "goldish beige" color in AS.
In short, AS is not just one tone at any one time and the tone you see in pictures you like is not the tone you will always see. It shifts a lot like Bamboo Pearl (which went from beige, to a light green to a gold, and a silvery light blue). If one likes the variety of tones AS emits as captured in these pics posted, this color is for you.
Silver Lining Metallic. As much as I like Nebula Gray Pearl it is too much of a dirt magnet.
I find it not too bad actually. USB on my IS is notably worse. Dust and dirt shows more easily than on my NGP RX, though in comparison to SLM or even Atomic Silver, for sure these two will be the best color for hiding dirt.
Starting to slowly change mind to Eminent White from Atomic Silver. Likely will have to see them in person on an NX to make up mind. Also finding myself not sold on NX completely. Rumors of X Drive BMW 2 series Active Tourer in diesel and curiosity about Prius remodel may have me taking a wait and see approach, especially not liking the NX bumper non-F sports will have in the states.
After MUCH deliberation, consideration, and finally a family vote, we have decided on the color. In fact, to make it official, we firmed up the exact model/color yesterday at my local Lexus dealer....
Runner-Up: Eminent White / Rioja Red
Winner: Obsidian / Rioja Red (hint - giveaway in my signature )
Wasn't easy. There is not one F-Sport color we didn't like and at some point, we wished we didn't have a choice. However, we felt the darker colors looked best masking the black wheel arches best (which are so-so for us from a styling standpoint). If we didn't have a Nebula Gray RX F-Sport, we would have gone for that since this color best compliments the matte black trim and black painted trim. However, what got us most was the "Darth Vader" front-end - Obsidian best highlighting the aggressiveness of the front chrome Spindle grill, triple L LEDs, fogs, and painted silver lip spoiler. Sporty yet luxurious with a commanding road presence.

Joe, here is a couple of nice photos of an Obsidian Black NX if you haven't seen them. Really sharp, congrats on your choice.
