Sound levels, now, are the least of your worries. Deleting the cats just about guarantees you won't pass your next mandatory smog test even if the emission levels are within limits (since now they inspect for modifications). Cali has a lot of ridiculous laws and regulations - good luck getting "back in step" to avoid all the hassles.

cats are mandatory here in cali. no way around it. we even have to buy cats that are cali approved.

Like I initially said...

I didnt even know Midpipe+axleback exhaust reached above 95db. Our local track has an 90db exhaust limit and ive heard much louder than most people exhaust setups. Be careful because a lot of state referees will take your car inside and measure noise level not realizing the echo makes it sound louder.

I'm just gonna put my stock cats back on, I still have all the factory parts.

I don't think it does, honestly. I measured it at my friend's house the second day and my phone read 85 dB on both the A and C scale (not sure what the difference is between both scales but I just wanted to make sure). The cop just didn't want to deal with me I guess, I knew it didn't go over 95 but he said it was too loud. Plus the fact that my car isn't the loudest in the area, if it was compared to other modified Hondas or Subarus, specially the subarus with downpipes. The state referee already told me he was going to measure it outdoors and not inside the facility so I guess I'm just gonna have to either get another exhaust system or put back my previous one.

95bd is the limit, but the law I believe allows the cop to make the judgement call if he gets from a certain range from the car and the exhaust is still to loud in his opinion he can cite you. Noise pollution or something like that. Coming from a guy when I was young used to get pulled over once a month for every kind of reason, even had cops follow me all the way to my house.

Which is why when I had my IS350, I installed silencers on it not just to cut off Cabin exhaust drone but also to ward off any attention from cops.

Sorry to hear all this drama you're having. First you should know what you're doing and buying. Megan clears their name because it specifically says for off road use only. Deleting cats is NOT legal in CA. I remember Greddy was working with CHP to make stickers that said their exhausts were legal regarding the DB. Don't compare your car to others cause if they get caught then they will be in the same boat as you.

Yeah I hate the cops in my area haha they're sometimes a real pain in the a**. The Megan Racing axle back I have currently came with silencers but I removed them, only then was it loud enough imo.

Yeah thanks for the info, I guess I just didn't spend enough time looking into Megan Racing and was dumb enough to not notice that MR was for off road use only so now I'm looking into either Magnaflows or as RSXiMUS suggested, Tanabe exhaust since I know they're both legal in CA for on road use. I would go with Greddy but all their systems have too high of a pitch for me, otherwise it would have been one of my top picks.
