Smile Amazing Scenic Driving Routes - Northern California

I didn't see any thread containing driving routes that would be great to drive on. I'm hoping we can share all the hidden gems out there in Northern California that are a must-drive .

I recently was driving in the Oakland/Chabot area and used the backroads to back home - what an awesome forest drive. I attached the KMZ (GoogleEarth) of about 75% of the route I took... Great route (one part reminded me of Happogahara hairpins), great scenery (shows all of Oakland, Bay Bridge, ship piers at certain parts).... Watch out for bikers though >_>

I should drive there at night one day and admire my newly installed 5k HIDs ^^

Are you talking about Redwood road? I took my bike up there all the time. Highway one is nice most places.

Default Hwy 9

Saratoga rd turns into HWY 9 and takes you to Santa Cruz. some areas to pull over and see the views. its a great drive for a sports car. Alice's restaurant is a must and half way point.

Sounds like skyline blvd. Definitely one of my favorite streets to drive because I live a couple blocks away from it. If you enjoyed that portion, should consider going skyline blvd to grizzly peak drive, much better view than you get from skyline blvd.

Just drove yesterday along highway 1 from around Stinson beach area to golden gate, its really a great view during sunset.

going to stinson beach is a fun drive, i went there recently. you can take either the forrest way or on the edge of a cliff. both are fun to drive.

You want a view just nice enough so that you still keep your eyes on the road but not so nice you drive right off of it!
