Changing brake pads in San Francisco
Hey, anybody know of a place that don't charge too much to change out brake pads on an IS300? I'm currently on a tight budget, so I'm trying to save as much as I can. I have the pads already, pretty much just need somebody to help me do it. Any recommendations appreciated!
Or if anybody could help, that'd be great. I'll treat you to some lunch and some beer

I thought so too until I got to the part about brake fluids and grease. That's when I realized brakes are probably something that I shouldn't touch if I'm not sure what I'm doing

Are you only doing pads itself or what else are you doing? If just doing pads itself I'm sure you can just take the caliper off and take the pads out. Taking them out will be easier since its worn down but when you put the new pads in you will have to compress the brake piston in so the pad will fit, no brake bleeding needed etc unless you open the brake fluid cap or the lines, doing so will cause air to get into the brake system

I have an '03. Yeah, just pads themselves. I was looking up a pictorial and it mentioned something about topping off the brake fluid and regreasing the shims or something.

you only need to add a little bit of grease to the back side of the brake pad where the metal shim will sit on. You'll see where to add it cause most likely there will be some old grease smashed against the shim. as far as topping the brake fluid off, you don't need to lol. technically speaking when you shove the brake piston back in, youll have more brake fluid in the reservoir, not less.

Oh okay, well honestly you don't need to remove the whole caliper at all. You just have to remove the two 14mm bolt that have the brake pistons in. After you remove that, the pads will be exposé. I post a link below so you can get a visual of what to do, you really don't have to open the fluid cap but it will make it easier, I usually dont
