Bodyshop Lien Sale'd My 95 SC in Santa Rosa
Hello! I'm new here. Thank You for reading this.
I have a 1995 Silver SC400. bought it new. It was in an accident (other driver at fault), now the repair shop wont give it back, they told CHP they lien sale'd it for non-payment of dent repair and storage.
I have received several parking tickets in mail and have seen it parked near Sonoma county courthouse, but couldn't get it before someone(?) left with it.
I am hoping someone out there who knows and loves Lexus's might see it, or has seen it anywhere?
License Plate #6SLL441 no front plate, only back plate.
thank you for any help. I love my car.

You need to find out why the payment was not made for the repair of the vehicle and if they wrongfully lien sold your vehicle then you have good cause for the police to get involved.
They're also legally obligated to let you know they're going to lien sale your car before they do so. Which by the sound of it they only told CHP after you contacted CHP about it and not you.
DMV:
"To conduct a lien sale, the person/lienholder must have possession of the vehicle and have lien sale authorization from DMV. Interested parties, including the registered and legal owners of record will be notified before the sale occurs. If the vehicle's value is $4,000 or less, the registered and legal owners of record will be notified by the party conducting the lien. If the vehicle's value is greater than $4,000, DMV notifies all interested parties. You can call (916)-657-7617 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. if you have questions regarding lien sales."

Sorry to read about this but your story seems a bit far fetched.
If the body shop (which you did not name) was doing an insurance repair (presumably authorized by the other drivers insurance company) then how did they "steal it" ??? They would only do a lien sale if the car went unpaid for a long period of time (the "storage fees") so you must have been tardy in keeping in touch with the body shop during the repair.
Also, a '95 SC will almost always be "totaled" by any insurance company for even a minor dent nowadays so you may want to expand on the details.
Agree with the OP that this sounds like a "police matter" and with outstanding parking tickets going against you they may be coming for you. If the body shop truly did a lien sale they are obligated to send the new owner info to the DMV.
Call the cops if this story is at all true.......
Not sure what any members here could do for you even if it is spotted.... And BTW, the picture depicts a newer than '95 front end... The slotted grill and fog lights are a 97+ feature....

Yeah... If it was in the shop for an accident that "was not" your fault there shouldnt be a reason why storage fees would be a concern. Everything should be covered from their insurance up to at least bbvalue. Or if they didnt have insurance and lets say you had jus liability you'd still have $3500 or bbvalue... If opt2 is the case then you dropped the ball on paying them. Opt1 shouldnt have put u in this situation.
Either way it still sucks and u should contact local pd for help. Good luck bro
Side note: i was offered a trade for a boosted 95 SC and the plates started with 5S

If it starts with a "5S" its more then likely was re-registered around 2002-05 for whatever reason. (i think, i can't remember at the moment)
good catch on the plates, their arent to many reason it should have new plates especially when OP claims to be original owner..
Yeah the OP's story doesn't add up. The other insurance company should have paid the tab. I'd fight the insurance company if i were you. sounds like it's their mistake if this story actually seemed true..
