Is there anyone in the Sunnyvale area that is familiar with 2JZGTE swaps? Ive got a 2001 Lexus GS430 with a 2JZGTE Aristo VVTi Swap on a W58 5 speed transmission. The swap was done a few months ago. Since the swap Ive been trying to work out a few kinks but I was wondering if there was someone in the area who is familiar with this type of work who can give me some advice on some of issues Im currently dealing with. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The car runs fine. I drive it to work every single day. I drive it with the MAF off. If it is on it will drop the idle real low and eventually die after a few seconds of being on.
The MAF is good. It was very expensive and very hard to get. I'm assuming it is reading properly. How would I figure that out?
it may be good, but is it clean? and did you check if its putting out the right volts?... Imma take a wild stab in the dark that the MAF is faulty. I would have it cleaned and get it checked, if thats not the problem, check if any of the wires during the swap have been snipped or damaged. Then if thats not the case, you may need to see if the ECU even see the MAF, if it doesn't then you may have to just get a whole new MAF or find a more compatible one.
Hopefully its just a case of a dirty MAF or damaged wire, then you can just get away with simple cleaning and/or repairing that stupid wire.
Just another thing I read was it could be the piping you are using for the MAF... that can be one of the reasons, I also forgot to check for any thing of vacuum leaks.
AH I forgot the VVTi has a MAF sensor unlike the older JDM GTE's. Are you putting it in the factory location since I know the you re-locate the GE MAF is sometimes can run like crap. Is this Roger BTW?

The MAF is hooked up to a reducer couple that goes from a 3" to a factory 2.5" diameter on the OEM plastic pipe.
I had a feeling it was you Adrian. Im not at the Mtn View store anymore. Im an asst mgr so im basically on tour. Since that store I moved to Campbell and now Im in San Jose. I still go to the Golds gym in Mtn View though since its close to my house. But hey we should meet up when youre free. My GS is beginning to frustrate me.
