Selling an unsmoggable car in California?
I'm just curious, It used to be that you could sell a car as is, but I am being told differently..... Can anyone tell me what the rules are to do this in California? Or point me in the direction of where to go to find this out?
-Thanks

If you value the car to be less than or comparable to $1000; you may be interested in the BAR Programs offered by the state (Consumer Assistance Program):
http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/03_BARPrograms/index.html
If you qualify for CAP, you can retire your vehicle for $1000...
If it's valued more that $1000 then "sell as off-road use only".

I know the cantseeme mobile is worth quite a bit more than 1K ....But even if it wasn't I think it would just be too sad for me to call her retired and give her to the state and watch her be crushed ....I just couldn't do it!
