Looking to install Remote Start in Smart Key system
Hi,
I'm looking for a Bay Area shop whom is experienced in installing aftermarket remote start systems into newer cars with Smart Key system. ie: 2IS, 3GS, etc.
There are factory installed remote start systems in the new RX, HS, LX, and i think GX... but like Joseph said, i doubt its going to work out for you. You would need to trick the system, because you need a key to start... but yet, the car wont let you leave a key inside.. it screws with the functionality of the factory smart key system.
Long time ago I had this on my buick I had and I had to buy another module or something bec it had a chip in the key... so I guess they jus got the code from the key and programmed it into the module and presto remote start! It should be possible.
Yes this has been done before on a 2IS and a 3GS. I need some direction to a shop with confidence whom has installed a system like this into those cars.
I believe iDatalink makes a module that uses CAN to communicate with the ECU and body gateway computers, but I would be very careful with stuff on newer cars.
