I got clear bra and window tinting done at Omega Tintwerks in Pleasanton, Vince (the owner) does very good work. Search on google, this and other forums, I've only ever read good things written about his work. Ask for the forum discount price.

Omega Tintwerks
3701 Old Santa Rita Rd #18
Pleasanton, CA 94588
(925) 227-1322

He guarantees his work, and will fix it if it doesn't turn out correctly.

Another vote here for Auto Mall Tint Specialist ((510) 659-8468) in Fremont. Gerardo did the installation a few weeks ago. I paid $300 for the Suntek HP Charcoal film (combo: 35% front doors, 30% rear doors and 20% back glass). You get what you pay for. The results were better then expected:

That Suntek that you got, is that ceramic?

I would highly suggest his work...the clear bra was done VERY well, its hard to see it unless you really look for it.

Default tinting shop in the Bay Area, CA?

Hi all,

I'm looking to tint my car.. still not sure whether I want to go with 3M or Llamar, but thinking of 25% on sides and rear. I have several questions though:
1. Is there a difference on the ceramic tint based on the brand? Has anyone had long-term problems with either Llumar or 3M?
2. Ceramic or carbon better?
3. Anyone know a good, reputable place to do it in the Bay Area, CA? Preferably south peninsula (Redwood City or south), southbay (Santa Clara, San Jose) or south east bay (Fremont, Milpitas).

Thanks!

From what I know:

1. Look at each of the specs (UV, sunlight block, etc), but I'm pretty sure they will all perform pretty much equally.

2. I would say ceramic. It doesn't interfere with our nav.

3. Rocky Mountain Windowtint (Livermore) would get my vote. They offer Pinnacle Formula 1 Ceramic (which is just as good as the pricy Huper Optics). They charge ~$400 but its all relative to the quality or the installation.

From what i know/ experience:

1. I heard llumar are good......i dont know about 3M...i know llumar, johnson, and hubert (sp?? soemoen correct me) is good..but it's all on the installer...a crappy installer putting llumar can do a poor job than someone who installing a $50 tint from pep boy and pep boy may win. hahahah. it all on the installer.

2. ceramic. less interference with ur radio/ nav

3. i didn't get llumar or 3m, but i got johnson and i got mine at Dynamic Audio (San Jose Downtown). He was suppose to charge me 350, but he thought my car was the 1st gen IS so he told me over the phone, $200. hahaha.

I got 15% Back, 30% front

i believe there's a pinned thread in the norcal section. anyway, automall tint specialist is fairly good, they're in fremont. if u go with ceramic from huper, they're the official installer. 400 is roughly the price (altho this was years ago) for such product...

http://www.autoimagetint.com/home/
-costed $250.00 for all around ceramic tint
-no problems with the tinting job.... tint came out perfect and they didn't melt the plastic on the pillars like many other people have recieved from other tinting places
-the only problem was that they didn't install the clips in one of the doors properly
-took 2 hours
-took the porsche there too...no problems with that at all

Some more questions. Thanks in advance for your answers!

1. About how much did it cost to tint through Auto Mall (recent price)?
2. Do they do anything darker than 30% on the Huber Optic? I think I'm gonna go for the ceramic tint, but I'm hoping for something more like 20% or 25%
3. Has anyone tinted their moonroof glass? Is it a good idea?
4. How long did it take to tint the car?
5. Anyone run into problems (tickets, etc) for tinting the front windows?

Best bet is call Automall and ask your questions. He's very up front about telling you the prices, pretty much preset based on the kind of tint you choose. The moonroof glass is not recommended to tint, something with the expansion. I found the factory moonroof light level is very comfortable and provides some light into the cabin.

Took about 3 hours to do the IS

So I called Auto Mall Tint Specialist for my 06 IS250. They quoted me $300 for Suntek and $500 for Huper Optik on doors and Suntek on the rear. They said that they won't do Huper on the rear because Huper doesn't shrink and the back glass is curved. Is it work the extra $200 for Huper?

Will Premier do ceramic tint on all 5 windows? They also are $300 for tinting?
** EDIT **: Called Premier. They do ceramic tint, but only 50% and 60%. They charge $550 for ceramic, $290 for non-ceramic.

Also, what tints did you guys get? I saw a pic earlier that had 35% on the front, 30% on the rears, and 20% on the back glass. I'm thinking more 30% or 20% on all 5 windows, but wanted some opinions on whether it's too dark and will attract attention with the police.

How's the Suntek HP Charcoal tint? Anyone have problems with interference with cell phones, radio, or a Garmin GPS?
