Update: still looking for a recommendation on a shop and/or how much it should be as a reference. Also was wondering if it's usually better to replace all 4 rotors at the same time? Right now the vibration issue only comes from the front rotors. Thanks!

Default Need Advice and Recommendation for repair shop

Hi Everyone,

Long time not post here. My 98 GS400 starter is getting bad. the 1 click and nothing happens again after 8 years. in about 2007, the starter was replaced by a friend of mine but he is not local to me anymore.

So I have 2 questions.

1. Should I go with OEM starter? which is about double the price of a none OEM starter. is that worth it? and for OEM I also see multiple part numbers, which one should I get?

2. Any recommendations for a indy shop around Fremont CA?

Thanks.
Leon

If you can wait order it from RockAuto. The only draw back is the warranty, you can always return it to the local store and online parts you cannot. Do you plan on keeping this for another 10 years, if so get one from your local shop. If not then get the Denso(best quality) from RockAuto.

Good morning
Mind sharing the Shop name where you had your mods performed-- looking to do the same here.
Thanks in advance.

Default Timing Belt Replace for GS4 - Exact?

Hello - I was looking for recent feedback on Exact Motorsports in Milpitas for a 90K service (timing belt, etc.) on my '98 GS4. I read through this thread but there is not much recent input on Exact. Any recent experience would be appreciated. Thank you!! Paul

They just installed my BBK on our '92 Lexus SC and have done numerous other jobs on the car.

My son took his '11 M37 there for the 30K service and was happy.

They may not be the least expensive but they do the work needed especially the part of all the fluid replacements.

Give Sandy a call and get an estimate over the phone; good quality shop.....
